In cryptocurrency mining, a worker is considered the minimal unit to join mining in a mining pool.
Usually, users give names to their workers to distinguish their mining machines and for ease of comparison. While it is possible to name multiple miners as one worker, in practice, different worker names are set for different machines. This allows users to easily match each miner with their hashrate showing on the pool and detect or locate machines that have gone offline, have abnormal hashrate, or group and sort machines on the pool dashboard.
