The electricity cost rate is the percentage of electricity cost in the fiat value of the cryptocurrency, that a mining machine can generate at the current electricity and coin price. The efficiency of a miner inversely affects the electricity cost rate. When it exceeds 100%, the electricity cost of mining exceeds the fiat value generated. Given that electricity is the main cost of operating crypto-mining machines, the rate is a critical metric for monitoring mining costs.
