Worker names are used to distinguish miners. When a mining pool needs to alert offline miners, problematic devices can be identified quickly by worker name. If offline miners are difficult to immediately identify and isolate, it may contribute to pool losses.
For mainstream ASIC miners, you can use the official batch management tool provided by the miner manufacturer to set the IP address of the miner as the worker name.
Most coins that mine with GPU and CPU miners do not have batch management tools. Therefore, changing multiple miner numbers one by one may be troublesome. In this situation, similar parameters can be used to generate worker names. When setting up the mining command, you can set the worker name as %computername%, as shown below:
xmrig.exe -o stratum+tcp://xmr.f2pool.com:13531 -u testf2.%computername% -p x
After configuring these settings, transfer the mining software to the appropriate mining machine and your worker names should be generated automatically by the mining software.
