Laptop or GPU miners can not mine Bitcoin and Litecoin efficiently.
As more ASIC miners consistently join the Bitcoin and Litecoin networks, the network difficulty significantly increases. Laptops and GPUs can only provide a very low hashrate relative to ASICs. They cannot complete sufficient calculation work that is sent from the pool, so miners may not get any revenue mining with them.
However, for certain coins, some options allow GPU mining to be desirable (like ETH, ETC, RVN, SERO, etc.) Different coins have their respective requirements regarding mining equipment, memory, motherboard, CPU, and so on. You can view the requirements on the mining tutorial of each coin. As an example, if your laptop has a CPU that is qualified XMR mining can be a good fit. Please check out the XMR mining tutorial for more details.
