Halving
Halving is a term that refers to the reduction of block rewards by 50%, according to the rules set in a blockchain’s protocol. This is a key element of a network's crypto-economics that determines the token supply. For example, Bitcoin's halving occurs every 210,000 blocks, which takes roughly four years. After three halvings, Bitcoin's current block reward is reduced from 50 to 6.25 BTC.
